  • Dedicated Cancer Centre

    Public-Private Partnership · Under development

    A 50-bed facility with anatomic pathology and medical imaging capacity, offering chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery as treatment options. Registered with Kenya's PPP Directorate.

  • New 250-bed ward block

    Under construction

    Additional inpatient capacity as MeTRH's daily inpatient load regularly exceeds current bed capacity.

  • Level 6 transition

    In progress

    Hospital-wide departmental changes as MeTRH becomes a fully-fledged specialized referral hospital, expected to improve patient care levels and specialized service delivery.

Teaching & research

A teaching hospital, not just a treating one

MeTRH is the teaching hospital for three institutions and an internship centre for Ministry of Health interns, clinical officers, nurses, and nutritionists — with research activity conducted on-site, including published studies on antimicrobial resistance.
